Product Description

The Eco-Vue offers a stylish eco-leather folio that helps protect your iPad. A unique and innovative hand strap design allows you to fold back the cover and securely grip the device during usage – a feature not offered in other cases or covers. The Eco-Vue opens like a book, and the elastic strap keeps the folio closed while the foldover tab inside helps keep the iPad from slipping out. A foldaway display stand rounds out a broad array of features provided in a single case solution. What's so great about eco-leather? The tanning process used to make this leather uses less toxins than traditional leather tanning. This minimizes toxic runoff into the ground and water tables. Throughout the entire process, the leather remains RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant. No chlorine, no sulfuric acid, and no petroleum/chemical based dyes. This is real leather, without the environmental impact of standard tanning and dying processes.

"Protecting your Ipad"

Fits perfectly. Has ability to adjust for different types of usage of Ipad; handheld flap, tilted desk stand and regular fold over. Quality of materials used is above average. Professional presentation.

"Falling apart after less than 2 months."

I really, really wanted to like this product, and I did at first. The design is very good. I like the kickstand and the elastic strap which holds the case closed, and it seems to offer good protection for the iPad. However, after less than 2 months of use, the rubber/silicone seals on the inside of the case have started to crack and separate from the edges of the case. Eventually, they just fall off, and then the microfiber starts to fray. So far about 15% of the seal has fallen off my case, and another 25% is loose and will undoubtedly fall off in the next few weeks. Additionally, it seems as if the microfiber is stretching out, and it no longer holds my iPad securely.

I have emailed Marware's support address, and I will report back on how they respond. But for now, I cannot in good conscience recommend this product because while I believe the product has a very good design, the one I received seems to be defective.

UPDATE 1: Marware Support replied within minutes of my email stating that they cannot issue a refund because I did not buy the item directly from them (bought through Amazon, obviously), but that they can send a replacement if I sent them a picture of the defective product (I added the picture to the Amazon "related images" section - so see that area if you are interested) and a copy of the receipt. I did so, and will continue to update when they reply again.

"Nice, but poorly constructed"

Unfortunately, I have to agree with every other review about how quickly this case deteriorates. I carry mine in a computer bag, and treat it gently given the cost of the iPad inside. Despite this ginger treatment, the rubber moulding that attaches the microfiber-like fabric to the plastic that covers the black bezel of the iPad has already peeled off, leaving unsightly loose flaps of fabric. Further, the mechanism to keep the iPad inside the case has loosened up over the two months I've had it, leading to the iPad falling out of the case repeatedly.

Though it looks quite nice (for a while), it's downright dangerous to trust in keeping the iPad secured inside. I paid twice the current price; at $25 it's disposable and certainly performs well at that price point. At $50, it's a pretty large disappointment.

"A great case for the price..."

After getting my 16 GB iPad WiFi as an unexpected gift I need a professional storage solution for it. After looking at hard shell cases, soft "gel like" rubber cases, and bags I decided on this one. The choice was made even easier after actually visiting the Apple Store and seeing the standard Apple case which had no padding and wasn't overly impressive for its price point. I stumbled upon the Mareware Eco-Vue and fell in love with the looks and price. I really wasn't planning on spending a ton on a good case, and nor did I want an exceptionally cheap one either. This case was perfect, it may or may not be true leather but at $25.00 I didn't really care! It looks professional not chessey or child-ish, and seems to be have nice details for the money. Now the bad news, after purchasing it and reading all the praise from iLounge and other internet sources I found out it has a magnet or two inside. I then decided after reading the reviews maybe just to try it because I have a non-3G model without the compass, but decided to be safe and remove the magnets. The process was simple enough, cut into the case behind the "flap" that holds it up like a desk, and removed the magnets. I put a two small penny sized pieces of card board where the magnets were. Then I glued the spots back up (it did leave a mark where the hole was cut) and it then worked great as portfolio but not as a stand and that is okay by me. I may glue the back of the "flap" to the case so you won't even be able to see the cut lines. Did I need to remove the magnets for a WiFi model? Most likely not. Do I feel more comfortable putting it in the case since removing them? Yes! I have always been told magnets and computer don't go well together so I took the extra time and a slight risk by cutting into the case and I am glad I did. The only reason I gave the item 4 out of 5 stars was because of the magnets nothing else. If you remove the magnets this is a GREAT case for the money.

"Class-A iPad case"

Having bought an excellent Marware case for my iPod years ago, I was curious to see what they would come up with for the iPad. The answer is a truly high-quality, sturdy, functional product. There's obvious attention to detail everwhere here, from the well thought-out openings to the sealed leather edges. I'm sure there are other quality iPad cases out there, but this has to be one of the best.
